Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Gettit — the verified, anti-ghosting dating app.
About Gettit
What is Gettit?
Gettit is a dating app that eliminates fake profiles, bots, and ghosting by requiring all users to verify their identity before they can access the platform. Every person you see on Gettit is a verified real human being. Gettit is available on iOS and Android and supports all sexual orientations and relationship types. It is currently in beta, launching in New York City in April 2026.
What makes Gettit different from Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble?
Three core differences set Gettit apart from every major competitor:
- Identity verification is mandatory. On Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble, verification is optional and most users are unverified. On Gettit, every profile is verified — no exceptions.
- Ghosting is structurally reduced. Accountability-based matching, Response Rate Badges, and Spark Match are features specifically designed to reduce ghosting. No major competitor addresses this directly.
- Location privacy is built in. Your exact location is never visible to other users — you share a fuzzy radius. Tinder and Hinge have no equivalent feature.

Is Gettit available on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Gettit is available on both iOS (iPhone) and Android. The app is currently in beta, launching in New York City in April 2026. Users outside NYC can join the beta waitlist to be among the first notified when their city goes live — and all waitlist users receive Gettit Plus free for 6 months.
Does Gettit sell my data?
No — Gettit does not sell user data to third parties, ever. This applies to all user data: location, orientation, identity, and messaging history. Gettit is fully GDPR and CCPA compliant. Unlike apps with documented histories of sharing sensitive user data with analytics vendors, Gettit's business model is subscription-based only. There is no advertising revenue, no data licensing, and no third-party data partnerships.
Verification & Safety
How does identity verification work on Gettit?
Gettit uses a multi-step identity verification process at signup. This includes selfie verification — matching a live selfie to a photo ID — to confirm the person creating the account is a real human being. This process blocks bots entirely, since they cannot produce a live selfie. Verified status is permanent and linked to the account. If an account is reported and found to be fraudulent, it is removed and the verified identity is flagged to prevent re-registration with the same ID.
How does Gettit prevent bots and fake profiles?
Mandatory identity verification at signup is the primary mechanism. Because every account must complete verification before accessing the platform, bots — which cannot produce a live human selfie — are blocked before they can create a profile. This is fundamentally different from apps where verification is optional. In addition, Gettit's 24/7 human moderation team reviews flagged accounts and removes fraudulent profiles typically within hours.
What happens if I encounter a fake profile on Gettit?
You can report any profile directly from within the app using the report button on their profile. Reports are reviewed by Gettit's 24/7 human moderation team, typically within hours. Because every account requires identity verification at signup, the incidence of fake profiles is dramatically lower than on unverified platforms — but if a fraudulent account slips through, the report-and-review system is designed to remove it quickly and permanently.
Is Gettit safe for LGBTQ+ users?
Yes. LGBTQ+ safety was a first-class design requirement for Gettit, not an afterthought. Key protections include:
- Location fuzzing: Your exact address is never visible. You share a radius, not a pin.
- Incognito Mode: Browse invisibly — critical for users who are not fully out or in sensitive personal situations.
- No data selling: Orientation and identity data is never sold or shared with third parties.
- Full orientation support: All orientations and identities are first-class users — not a filtered mode.

Features
How does Gettit prevent ghosting?
Gettit reduces ghosting through three specific mechanisms:
- Identity accountability: Verified users are not anonymous. Social accountability raises the stakes for ignoring a real person who invested time in a conversation.
- Response Rate Badges: Each user's profile displays their typical reply rate, so you can assess before investing in a conversation whether this person typically responds.
- Spark Match: Mutual opt-in before conversation begins. Both users signal genuine interest before messaging is unlocked, filtering out low-intent matches that account for the majority of ghosting.

What is proximity-based grid discovery?
Gettit's main discovery screen is a grid of verified profiles sorted by distance from your current location. Unlike algorithm-driven swipe feeds (which can surface profiles based on paid boosts or engagement scores), Gettit's grid shows you the real, verified people physically closest to you. You apply filters for orientation, relationship type, and other preferences. Your location appears to other users as a fuzzy radius — your precise location is never shared.
What is the Video Intro feature?
Video Intro is a Gettit Plus feature that lets users record and display a short video on their profile. Before matching, you can watch the other person's Video Intro — providing the most direct confirmation that a profile belongs to a real person. It also adds personality and voice that photos alone cannot convey. Video Intro is available exclusively on Gettit Plus ($9.99/month).
What is Incognito Mode?
Incognito Mode lets you browse the proximity grid without appearing in other users' discovery grids. You can see and view profiles normally, but your profile is invisible to others unless you choose to interact with them. This is useful for users who are not fully out, who are in sensitive professional situations, or who simply want to control their own visibility. Incognito Mode is available on Gettit Plus ($9.99/month).
